I have a blue spotted puffer and two oscellaris clowns in my 65. Is like to add something else but do t really know what. Any suggestions? I had a splendid dottyback and glam angel but they went carpet surfing.

flamehawk, black cap basslet

I would stay away from dottybacks

Get a lid or more carpet surfing to come

Fish only. Not sure I’d keep another angel, the flame angel was a jerk. It picked on the puffer pretty bad. I’m going to get lids for all of my tanks...my kitten discovered how to go fishing in my freshwater tank.

If you have a 2-3inch sandbed you could do a Melanarus wrasse. If not lots of cool fairy and flasher wrasses could work in that tank.

If I had a fowlr I’d get a snowflake eel, non reef-safe triggers that don’t get huge, butterflyfish, so many options.

That was my experience with a Flame Angel as well. I have a Coral Beauty now and it's a much better tank mate.

No such thing as a Trigger that will work long term in a 65 gallon tank. There are some smaller Butterflyfish that would work though (ie Spotband Butterflyfish).

They are very independent minded fish one individual might be much better tempered than another. That said my coral beauty is a model citizen. No coral nipping(though i never kept the lps they are most likely too) and gets along well with my false percs and lubbocki wrasse. Test will be when i add my final fish a radiant wrasse since he currently was the last fish added.

Another option butterflyfish wise would be a mexican barber. True omnivore so more likely to eat the foods we feed. Also their travel distance is much shorter than their indo-pacific relatives.

True about the trigger

Some Suggestions:

Flame or long nose hawkfish
Yellow “coris” wrasse
Melanarus wrasse
Tailspot blenny
Pygmy white spot or aptaisia eating filefish

Thanks guys. Decided to get a flame hawk and an orchid dottyback. Came today and despite the extreme cold, they seems to be doing okay
