Welcome to R2R! My Yellow watchman goby and serpent star cuddle up together in the same burrow.
When the serpent star first went in the goby’s burrow and displaced him, the goby was freaking out, and swimming all over the tank in a panicky way, slamming into the gyres, repeatedly banging violently against the glass, etc. I thought something was really really wrong with him. Then he just disappeared and I thought he died.
A month or so later, looking around at night with a flashlight, I saw the goby’s tail sticking out with the serpent star‘s leg on top of it and assumed he died and serpent star was eating him.
But every couple of weeks I’ll still see the goby peek partially out along with a leg or two. They are both extremely reclusive. I squirt food down at the opening of their burrow with a pipette, but very rarely see either of them. Will try to get a photo if they ever emerge.
