Hi I just purchased a LNB and was wondering how long I should keep him in the acclimation box. I mainly kept him in there to make sure my tang wouldn't bully him but so far after two days he hasn't even swam near him or shown any interest at all. The LNB is also eating like a pig and seems really eager to get out. So how much longer should I keep him in? It is he fine to be taken out now?

If there is no aggression, then it should be fine to let him out. Though there will likely be a bit of renewed interest when he is released, so watch for that.

Will do, I may de do the rockwork as well this weekend which I think should help as well.

I don't know about you, but the acclimation box never works for me with aggression. My current fish steer clear of the box (whether there is a fish in it or not) because they are afraid of it. I made that mistake with a Coris wrasse. I left him in the box for almost a week.....not one fish went anywhere near it. As soon as I let him in the tank and removed the box, he was attacked immediately and had to be removed.

If they are all afraid of the acclimation box, then 1) you left them in too long. In most cases a day or 2 will suffice, and 2) train them to not be afraid. Put the box in the tank and use it for feeding for a week. Once they get used to it and associate it with food whenever it is used they will investigate it.

I think you misunderstood my original reply......the fish that are currently in the tank are afraid of the acclimation box...which means, regardless of aggression towards the new fish, they avoid the box (and the fish) like the plague. Putting the box in for a week prior to acclimating a new fish would probably work...I will have to give that a try the next time I add a new fish.

This is the first time I've ever used an acclimation box. Never needed one before

Yea it's just my tang that's not interested, my clowns and flame angel swim around it all day and just kind of investigate it but never show any signs of aggression towards it.
