What is going on with this coral? What’s growing out of it? It was fine earlier but now, still kind of new to this stuff…

Definitely ticked showing skeleton.
Quick probabilities
Too much light
Another coral fell on it
A fish could have been picking at it.
The best I can think is I had to move it, a nem was getting close as it was moving around and I didn’t want it to get stung. It was more out in the light when I moved it so moving him back now. Thanks

Yes, the spiky protrusions are the internal skeleton. It normally is inflated and covering them. Under stress they retract. In this case not just on the edges but the entire coral is retracted and the skeleton is piercing the flesh.

Correct the issue, it will inflate, and heal in a few days up to a few weeks.

You said it looked fine "recently", when was that? The coral is dying, if you haven't tried a different spot yet, then I would move it somewhere else.

Yes recently as in the day before, I had to move him as a Condy was getting close and didn’t want him stung, I moved him to a frag rack that was a little closer to the lights then where he was. I moved him back to his spot as the condy moved I’m just going to monitor him and hope it goes back to normal.
