I’m considering getting a small frag of Lobophyllia for my 10 gallon mixed reef. My concern is that the sweeper tentacles will
harm the other corals that I have lower in the tank like my acan, mushroom, zoas, etc. would people recommend I avoid a Lobophyllia in my tank or go for it?

I see lobo's and acans near each other all the time! I've had rotten luck with lobo's and acans personally, my tank runs a bit clean for them. But, I've never known them to be aggressive.

My vote is- go for it :)

Hmmmmm ok it looks like I need to really think about this. Thanks for double checking your own experience!

I usually do if it’s something I’m not 100% about lol. I’ve had a few lobos and acans over the years, but never for what I would consider “long term” since they don’t seem to workout. I either get a fish that eats them, or they do great for a while and then just kind of start to decline for no seemingly good reason :/

I have a lobo in my 20gal waterbox cube mine has 3 heads on it....the sweeper tentacles on it are fairly short and it opens up at the top going up and not so much sideways...so I think as long as you place it within a couple to three inches of your acans and got a smaller lobo you should be fine.
Edited to add a pic of mine open @ night and during the day for reference...Hope this helps :)

The sweeper tentacles on a lobo is not the problem with them. when they sense another coral near them they send out mesenterial filaments that will completely destroy just about anything it comes in contact with and dont underestimate how far they can go.
In my old tank my lobo killed a torch, few heads of a hammer, nuked a candy cane that was about 10 cm away and one montipora about the same distance on the other side when a urchin pushed the lobo into range of the monti.
