Lobster Faked Me Out!

Checked out the tank today and saw this ….

Rats, spiny lobster died ….. or did it? On the other end of the tank, there it is wiggling away. Faked me out with an almost perfect molt.

LOL, happens to me when my cleaner shrimp molted the first time. I freak out when I saw that empty body swimming around until I saw the shrimp in a rock cave.

I had an emerald crab molt that had me 100% convinced he was dead. I even removed the molt from the tank and examined it, then threw it away. It looked and felt exactly like an intact recently alive emerald crab. Imagine my surprise when he reappeared a few days later lol.

Had the exact same thing happen to me, except it was a pom-pom crab. I was really disappointed until about 2 weeks later when I caught a glimpse of the alive crab

The key is to look for meat once you remove the exoskeleton. Meat = bad; no meat = good. This one made me look twice though. The other issue is these aren’t supposed to grow all that fast. He’s appreciably bigger today than yesterday.
