I am thinking of picking up an external pump for my 2.5 gallon pico jar, increasing room temps are starting to give me some heat issues with my powerhead. I am looking at the Eheim 1048. I would also want to run a 1/2" random flow generator off this. Could I run loc-line straight out of the pump, or would I have to go hose to loc-line?

Bump.

I don't think I would trust loc-line outside the tank. It may work at first, it may even work long term, but I just wouldn't trust it. That's just my 2 cents worth.

A 2.5 gallon pico! Man we just don't see many like that around here. I think the 16g 'spare' tank I use as a frag tank, QT, holding tank, overflow tank (as in too much stuff for the 40g cube DT) is small. I'd love to is pics!

Thanks Ron! Last night I added a bit of supplemental lighting that will let me keep my main light, and main source of heat, off longer. Hopefully this works, if not i will have to look more closely at the external pump idea more, or go to an air line again, which I did not think provided enough flow. Below are a couple pics, first one is a FTS from shortly after I first set it up about 2 months ago, and the second one is from a few days ago, my Iphone 6 takes terrible pics!
