Wow, why so much mg? That's a 5 year supply, Lol. I don't add any mg to my systems, so I was curious to the benefits that you guys are seeing. The only mg that goes into my systems is in the form of water changes.

Thank you,
Sonny

Sonny do u test for mag ? I Havnt in a while I also just rely on wc to add it but I feel like I'm missing a pice of the puzzle and wonder if adding mag will be that missing pice too make my sps grow as fast as I'd like!

I actually don't test anything. I haven't done so in a very long time, possibly a year+. I wouldn't recommend anyone else doing so.

Thank you,
Sonny

Sonny how long u been growing sps?

This one gave me a laugh... Just kidding, but Sonny's tank is AWESOME!

I am with Sonny though as I don't use mag much. I did use the Tech-M to kill off bryopsis but after that I didn't do anything. I don't follow the BRS guidelines about adding 20 oz of the stuff when the bucket of alk/cal are gone as I tested and realized water changes were enough to keep it up to where it needs to be. Actually water changes with Reef Crystals keeps it a little high.

I usually test mine after a water change and if necessary i use the reef calculator and add enough mag to bring it back to where i like it.

it takes a lot of mag to raise 300gall just 100ppm. going to try the Reef Crystals mag is a little higher then corallife salt. if bryopsis algae dies at 1600 and corals perk up why not keep it there. or just below there been keeping it at 1450. its a small jump to 1600 if i have a problem.
mag lets coral digest calcium, my sps growth has been out of this world.

Leslies Pool Supply (or any pool supply).

Soda Ash = Alkalinity
Hardness Plus = Calcium.

OR

Sam's Club ARM & HAMMER = Alkalinity
