Locate dosing pump in sump or display?

Hi everyone! I'm finally getting a dosing pump. I am tired of manually dosing. My question is, should I have the elements go into the sump or directly into the display? I'm currently only dosing NeoNitro, AFR, and No3Po4-x. Thanks for your input.

I'd say sump, with the dosing line outlets located after all of your filtration media so they get pumped into the display without being filtered out in any way. you could have them dose into the space between the baffles going into the return chamber and attach the dosing line holder to the baffle itself.

I was thinking that. Unfortunately, my sump is an old one. Only two chambers. Bio balls on one side and everything else on the other (protein skimmer, carbon reactor, return pump).

Both of mine dose into the return chamber of my sumps. I never really thought it out it was just easiest to place the hoses there and I didn't want the clutter in the DT.

I think dosing into highflow is more important than where it goes. If I didn't have a powerhead just for mixing doses into my sump, I'd probably dose into my overflow or right at the return.

But def sump if you can. Tunze has a new cheap tube holder that works great for placing the lines wherever you want. Mine are all on my filter sock holder.

For anyone who has the dosing pumped into the main display, have you had any issues with the pump actually being able to pump the dosing, say 4 feet up? Because of the way my sump is configured (wet/dry, 2 chamber), I think dosing the main tank is my better option. I'm just not sure it would have enough "power" to pump liquids up about 4 feet. It says it has a 5 foot max head pressure. @Court_Appointed_Hypeman thanks for the reference to the Tunze tube holder. So far, it seems it's out of stock at my usual "shops". I'll keep looking.

That's the one, and it does appear out of stock everywhere, it was a new product in october and with the price I jumped on it fight away.

I would think distance or climb would be no factor for a dosing pump. I built mine with cheaper heads and they don't have liquid move in either direction without the pump turning on.
