Location, Location - Where is your tank located?

I am planning a basement sump with tank on first floor. I was worried about pipe coming out of the floor and came up with an idea.... If I ever move I will just put a floor vent grille. It would just look like another register:)

I placed one of my large tanks on 3/4" Plywood which offered stability

Has that worked out well for you? I have seen some posts advising not to put anything under the tank. I am going to use leveling caster (I think) but that wouldn't preclude using plywood. Appreciate any advise.

Thanks
Dan

Yes and three different times. I use shims (if needed) between the stand and wood versus marring the floor

See wood under the stand (you almost cant tell)

I would love the sound of that at night, haha.
I have a little 16 gallon modded up Biocube on my bedside table. Don’t know if I caused bathroom runs …..maybe?

In the first floor living room where I can watch tv and look at my tank at the same time.

Exactly the same way my tank is. Whenever there’s a commercial break, I’ll just glance at the tank, haha.

I often glance over at the tank, it’s the bottom of the third inning and my Guardians are playing, just to check on it for a second and then return to the game and it’s the top of the fifth inning!

Ahhh, I still remember them by their politically incorrect name. Go Indians!

Just had this conversation yesterday on another thread! Still hurts and I still have all Indian apparel and can’t seem to get myself to purchase any Guardian gear!

In the living room. Not a great idea had two flood disasters ending with over $800 just to treat the Afgan carpet. Third time will cause fish corals and myself thrown out of our house.

Mine is in my LR, wife said if we are getting a tank it is going to be somewhere we can enjoy it. Fortunately have a structural wall away from windows with power and plenty of room for the next tank up lol. I have to be a little careful during water changes, but I have a system, and I really don't mind, just put a towel down, and bring 3 5g buckets from next floor down along with my bucket of salt and a mixing bucket with heater and pump.

In my living room across from a double window. But my room darkening shades STAY DOWN, and I have shade edges on them so no light gets thru. Also knew that I would eventually have a tank, so when we did some work to the house, including upgrading the electrical, I added multiple outlets, each on their own breaker. And now I have scheduled a whole home stand by generator to be installed :smirking-face:  The things we do for our little slices of the ocean.

Mine is in my home office. I work from home 90% of the time, so it's the one thing I look forward to when I have to work. Perfect placement for hours of enjoyment, though it can be a bit of a distraction...
