I am in the planning stage of a tank upgrade. My new set up will consist of a 120g with LED and t5s and a 40b with LED and t5s. They will be a few feet from each other and at the same height. I would prefer to run these tanks on opposing light schedules. I am plagued with terrible PH and hope the opposite schedule will help all the other things I am doing to combat the low PH. That would mean the room would be lit up basically 24hrs a day. The light from one tank will 100% be lighting the other tank to some degree. Has anyone else ran a similar set up? Am I asking for trouble doing it this way?

Unless you have some sort of light-blocking barrier or perhaps barndoors on the fixtures to prevent spread, you're gonna be lighting the opposite tank inadvertently.

Yes, that's 100% going to happen. I guess what I'm asking is, is the spillover from one tank to the other something I need to worry about or is it negligible?

I'd say it would be enough to encourage algae growth on the adjacent sides of the tanks, but if that's not a problem for you then I don't see a big problem
