loki2902's 120 gallon escape

Your corals are looking awesome Chase, keep up the good work.

Everything looks fantastic!!!!

Awesome collection of corals Chase!

I got a few more goodies today. I love trading corals! I think it really helps everyone out.

I traded an acanthophyllia (that was doing well in my tank but the only place it was happy was behind the rocks) for some zoas. I got a Jason Fox Bloodshot, a few tubs blue, two fruit loops, and two different types of acans. I don't have pictures yet but I will probably get some this next week.

I have really been wanting a bloodshot since I have seen them. :D

When the lights came on I fed some reef chili and snapped a picture :) The glass is dirty but I really like seeing this guy so happy!

Very nice Chase! It's times like these that I really miss my old 125g LPS dominated tank... I can't seem to keep LPS alive anymore. :squigglemouth:

Thank you. :) I am starting to move away from large LPS. I just traded off my acanthophyllia and am looking to get rid of my blue maze brain. They just don't seem to like my tank as much as zoas acans and SPS. Im not loosing anything but they aren't as big and fluffy as I think they should be.

Funny, my 125 was LPS dominate too and now I have a hard time with them as well.

Wow, I'm new to the site, and just went through your build thread Loki, that tank is awesome!!:bounce:I sooo miss my reef tanks!!!! Will be getting my feet wet again very soon, and I gotta tell you I am very anxious to jump back in. After 4 years of no tanks, I'm way past withdrawals!! Have a quick question though. What did you use to cycle the tank with the dry rock? I haven't seen rock color up that fast with coralline algae in a long time. Will throw my two cents in as well about the LPS and SPS in the same tank. When I had mine, it was dominate LPS and once I started adding more SPS the LPS no longer did well in the tank. I moved the LPS to their own tank with no SPS and then began to thrive again. Not sure why they don't care to be together, though I think the SPS gives off a slime and if it's in the direct flow of a LPS, that LPS is gonna be unhappy. Just my thoughts.

Thank you for the compliment :) I have to much flow for the large more fleshy LPS is what I am noticing.

For the color on the rocks I didn't cycle with anything and it took 8 weeks. My LFS had some Purple Up that they said doesn't work so they gave me a bottle of it (or two I don't remember) and I threw it in there a few caps every day. I think it works :)

Great tank, Loki! Love the bowerbanki, that's a nice one...its one of those corals I always want but i never end up getting one.

I find flow to be a tricky issue as well when keeping LPS and SPS together...the SPS want super high flow and the LPS want it bit slower...i think frag racks in the upper water column as you have done is a smart move to try and appease both.

lookin forward to seeing more!
