Every now and then I like to shine a flashlight in the tank when the lights have been off for a while.

Yesterday I had a bit of scare though. Some kind of long, black worm was hanging from underneath a small piece of rubble. As soon as the light hit it, it immediately retracted back in his little hole. I know there's a couple of worms you definitely not want in your tank, so I'm a bit freaked out.

I couldn't snap a picture or really have a good look at it. Only know that it's black, long and smooth. No weird spikes or hairs or whatever. Guessing it was about 2 inch long. I know that there's at least 1 big fat tube worm in the tank, could this be one reaching all the way out of his shell? It was about as wide as a 2 inch long bristleworm (without the bristles, so just the body).

Any ideas what it is and if it's harmful? Assuming it's still in that piece of rubble (with a Caliendrum frag attached to it), can I just dip it in the same stuff I use for the corals? Would that kill it? Any fish or shrimp that'll deal with it if there's more of them?

If the rocks removable def dip . Unfortunately without a pic i cant help.

Fireworms startle easily from light but my best guess would be peanut worm OR eunicid worm

You can dip just the rock in ro water and it will most likely bail.
