Could be wrong in saying this but I've alwats kept a cleaner shrimp and it always rids my fish of ich. But you may not be able to keep a shrimp w/ a eel.
Well, Cleaner shrimp do not remove ich. The spots you see are actually mucus accumulated on the skin, the parasite is under the skin.

Edit to add cleaner fish also will not get rid of Ich

All my fish look good but a new angel my husband brought home is making me uneasy ... I don't know if he looked it over first but she looks covered in ich. And I don't want the rest of my fish to get it. She is the only one other than my long nose hawk that has white spots. Except hers are not in the gills. Best pic I can get she won't stop moving so much

I am not sure it's ich, looks like a lot of spots, and velvet also causes white spots. Velvet spots are smaller, and there are more of spots. It's described as looking like it has had salt shaken on it.

@3FordFamily may be able to help id.

Either way, it is likely in your tank now.
I would start setting up a hospital tank to get ready for treatment. If it is velvet you have to start treatment fast.

That looks more like velvet to me than ich. Regardless, you'll need to remove all of the fish, treat them all and leave your tank fallow for 76 days. I know that's not what you want to hear but not qt'ing and treating will lead to disaster frequently.

Ugh... Definitely not what I want to hear. We caught her last night (nightmare) had to take out most of our rock because it's so smart and fast! I am taking her to our fish guy today.. He is the one who sold my husband the fish. I HOPE he can help us. Because I don't have a hospital tank yet. And I'm attached to a few of my fish like crazy. So I really have my fingers crossed here. Lol and still no hawk fish

You don't have to have a fancy set up for a hospital tank. Can even use a plastic tote on the ground, so long as it has a heater and some type of filter and water circulation

You mentioned you have an eel, what type and what other fish are in your tank?
He's a baby snowflake eel. All my fish are babies .. I have a hippo tang, two clowns, a blue jaw trigger, Niger trigger, cleaner wrasse, puffer fish. I did have a half black angel before the angel I have now, but we also had a yellow tang that bullied her and injured her eyes and she didn't make it. I have a hawk fish HAD a long nose hawk fish, and a starry blenny.

We don't have coral in there. For obvious reasons. Just some mushrooms that came on some rock we got. So I could probably just treat my whole tank? And removes snails and crabs?? Pretty much food for the meaner guys anyways. I grew to really like the sand snails, with the long type nose, and my puffer likes to chomp on them lol or do I have to take all the fish out anyways?

Only problem with treating your DT is the fact that the rock might absorb some of the medication, there are a few meds such as Prazipro, but not many. Also never use copper with the eel. Looks like fish less in DT for a while.

Yes I would definitely move him. I'll see what this guy tells me today. Thank you.

Confirm the disease is what I'd do, then be ready to setup multiple quarintine tanks to be able to treat the eel differently from your fish as they will require a slight different care.

Your whole tank now has the parasites living in it.You can't treat one fish and put it back, without reinfecting it. Put all your fish in a QT and treat with cupramine. Leave main tank fish less for at least 76 days.

Yea that's what I planned on if it's velvet

You need to get into the habit of quarantining everything before placing them into your main tank, even if they look flawless and healthy or you're putting everything at risk. Goodluck with everything, I hope you caught this in time so you do lose anything else.

I agree! That's what I told my husband lol
He rarely listens to me

How big is your tank, just curious bc you have a few fish in there that get pretty good sized and like their swimming space, like those triggers. Any of the triggers, eel, or puffer would have eaten the longnose hawkfish, especially if it was weak from sickness.

Yes I know that a lot of my fish will get a pretty good size right now our tank is too small... But we are upgrading to 180 gallon or bigger.. We've been looking around. I think the one we have now is 80... But right now they are all tiny. Our fish guy is keeping an eye out on something we want too. So maybe keep the one we have now as a hospital tank ;)
