Long or Short filter socks

I’m about to buy.. a ton of filter socks from BRS because washing them a little at a time is too painful for my nose and my sanity..

I have 4x14 which would be touching the floor and sort of blocking where the filtered water would go to the refugium (highlighted in teal)

i currently put in a very short one in the front and 4x 8 inch which seems really short.. and gets clogged faster.
Does it matter if I use the 14inch and let the socks touch the ground? It would take longer to change the filter socks...

The shorter the sock the easier it is to turn inside out before washing.
The longer the sock the more filter area and maybe longer time before it gets clogged.

I just throw them in the washer... as long as it’s okay that the socks touch the floor.. I’ll go with the long one

I just got these and am very impressed. Better than the ones I got from BRS:

I take it back! I just tried them in the sump and there is something odd about the fabric. GREAT stitching but somehow the fabric just doesn't get 'wet'. Gonna wash them again and see if it improves. But another brand I CAN recommend:
