Today while out Black Friday shopping my daughter called me and told me “your aquarium is full of air bubbles and a pump is making noise”I was 30 miles away in Decator Al. So she sent me a video. The cross flow pump was pulling air from the surface. Thin I knew the return pump had quit again. When I got home I tried to reset the pump and got a low voltage code. So I started removing it to install my older pump and noticed the wiring looked like a rat had chewed holes in it. In September I had another pump had quit I just thought it must’ve been a bad pump went and found it and sure enough found same holes in cord . It turns out that in May I had to move my long spine urchin to the sump because he was eating some of my coral.

I don’t know how I missed the hole in the cord the first time I guess I just didn’t look very closely! I repaired the cord and plumbed it external 3 hours later got the water flowing again.

I got the first pump rewired and it works it will just have to be plumbed in external. So now I have a good backup pump. Lemonade out of lemons !

might want to invest in a grounding probe - for safety sake
That’s true but they are 24volt pumps not to dangerous on that end but I don’t want voltage in my tank! But wile doing a water change last week I did get a small jolt on a scratch on my hand I definitely need to pay more attention to that! Makes seance now in hindsight.
