Hi all,

As you can see my LTA has found a nice spot where it gets flow but is stationary. The issue is that it either bobs up and down or just sits on the sandy surface. Will at any point did itself into the sand to get anchored?

By the pic, I'm not convinced that's an LTA.

An LTA should dig itself into the sand. It should also not be translucent white.
I was told by others in a previous forum here that it was a LTA, as I originally thought it was a BTA. Now I’m even more confused…what the heck is it them? Lol

Mine did the same thing for a month or two but finally grabbed hold.
But all it tends to grab is the side of the rock along the sand bed and then let go. I’ve read of ppl buying PVC pipe and planing them in it so they hold on to the glass bottom.

Here is another few pics…let me know.

How long have you had the LTA? Try squirting bits of frozen food at it. The food might help in anchoring by that spot because there’s a source of food, the name just doesn’t know you’re feeding it. I have seen some LTA come in pale at the LFS. The shop keeper will usually house them in low light because it takes a while for the LTA to acclimate to light intensity of aquariums light fixtures so it might also be looking for a bit of shade.

If you can find a big enough pvc coupling. I'd put that around it and see if it'll shade it some and protect it from the current in your tank. It might just be getting blown around too much. Or find a kiddy corner and surround some rubble rock around it.

That’s what I did…Place rocks around it to deflect some of the flow.

I have only had it for a few weeks give or take. I had to lower the light intensity to 15% as I been dealing with an issue of diatoms but before I had it at 50% for each channel.

I am dealing with the same issue. Frustrating.
