Hi everyone,

I was so happy with my alveopora which is thriving in my tank (at least it think it is fine! Rsrs).
But a local store said alveopora/gonioporas use to go well for about 2 years in the tank and suddenly die - for no particularly reason.

Did someone had this experience?

Cheers

I had a beautiful colony lasted a year, but I think it was due to my own negligence as I was dealing with bad algae issues and a pair of clowns that kept burying it. Just stressed it to death. A lot of people are keeping them successfully now. They like to be fed .

I have heard the same. Right now Im coming up on a year and both goni's are doing fine

That’s my fear.... I was ready to build a alveopora/goniopora garden. Though really a afraid of this 2 years life expectation.

They like a bit of detritus sized food and they seem to respond well to the dosing of manganese.

I have a goni that is about 3 years old. I have now split it into 5 pieces and all are doing well. It's bright yellow if that matters.

I've had one for 1.5 years. Unique Corals $15 red goni frag. Probably doubled in size. I've always read that red ones do better in our tanks.
