I have taken the plunge, quite literally, and now I walk around with one wet arm. Well, that started three years ago when I bought a 210 RR that was in dire straits.I am an analytical chemist, trained in aquatic biology and toxicology, and my long term goal is to develop analytical instrumentation that will tell us much more about our reefs then a probe. We all know there is a lot of artistry and intuition for reefin success, I would like to draw back the curtain a bit, and make sure we preserve the specimens we love and wish to preserve.Cheers, and good to be here, Zach'zforce'

That would be great! These days we don't kow what to believe since it all about selling products...hopefully you can help us all with educated facts to guide us through! Welcome

Glad to have you aboard, of a similar mind but a different discipline, retired from machine design engineering, I tend to DIY about every portion of this hobby I can get my salty hands into. Often too many maybe. My temperature is controlled with a $25 STC-1000. My first LEDs were DIY and those are now on a different tank. I'm currently working on a 5 pump DIY dosing system that could become as many pumps as I desire (if the darned pumps ever get here from China). I'm written enough programs and apps in my past already, SO I'm crazy stubborn now about DIY solutions that don't have any software development dead ends (I've see enough). I like them all to function faithfully with dials, relays, and timers. When the power goes off and comes back on they don't need someone to reset their software clocks, or re-boot them. LOL.. I love projects, PM me if you want another nerd to bump heads with on a project. LOL.. we will either hit it off instantly or hate each other. You know the drill.

Welcome! I know the "one wet arm" thing quite well...looking forward to hearing your ideas!

I think I love you Frag  I am a DIY lover myself... in fact... i decided not to spend the money on a aqua controller and integrate my home alarm system with light timer and water sensor modules....(on order, expected late next week. I am not as technically advanced as the engineer... although I took a lot of architectural drafting classes in HS, I pride my self in being able to find ways to do things myself and often much better that a retail product
