Hello everybody just introducing myself. I am a long time lurker. I have been in the hobby for 5-ish years.
My Aquarium Specs:
RS Reefer 170, which is a 34 gallon display and 9 gallon sump.
Nanobox duo light (thinking about upgrading)
mp10qd and a octopulse 2 (i would love to trade this octopulse 2 for another mp10qd)
Protein skimmer that overflows
An ATO that selectively sings its siren song at any moment that would be of great inconvenience to me
A ticking time bomb of a heater that is ready to pop at any moment, as its twin did so recently.
A chiller that is the only consistent thing about my tank
and yeah, ook im to lazy to type all this but I think I got the important bits in.
Little about my aquarium and myself. I am a self-proclaimed boy genius of all that is salty and finned, that being said, about a month ago I had my first mini tank crash, but there weren't to many loses. Tank isn't looking the prettiest atm but here is before and after images.
I moved some rocks and coral around after the crash. My poor toadstool is not happy about it, but I try to look at the bright side, I now have 4 babies growing of my favorite coral!
I am finally starting to do some of the more hands on maintenance that I have been putting off for years. I started to clean the rocks up and remove my early days of gluing full frag plugs onto rockwork. I've been actively looking for a way to place this octopulse without it blowing the bejesus out of everything like some transient night walking woman of ill repute. I want to put the gorgonian in the back corners but flow remains the succubus wh*** of my dreams and desires. I would love people's opinions and advice! Maybe even ideas on which coral you think I can add as I gotta fill some space now, especially on the right side.
It might sound weird to say but getting to watch how my coral respond to crashing has been pretty cool. I've done enough reading about it, so getting to experience it is actually weirdly exciting. I will say all my coral are relatively cheap, so that is probably why I am not twitchily pacing around with a gun in my hand haha.
