I posted to R2R for the first time today and got a lovely invitation to introduce myself. I'm Brian and live in Kansas City. I've been reefing off and on since 1994 when I worked at a friendly LFS. At the time the LFS was just getting into marine tanks and I was the research guy. Well, fast forward 22 years and I've had a lot of experiences. FOWLR back then. 55g reef in the early 'naughts. Upgraded to a 180 LPS and softy reef around 2007. -cue emotional music- in 2011 marriage on the rocks, divorce happened and the 180 had to go in the move. Back to a 55. 2012 upgraded to an awesome 65 rimless. She was a real beaut! Though downsized, had coral specimens I'd been growing for years. Then coming home from vacation one time, found my ATO had failed and flooded my reef with RODI water for 5 days straight (NEVER. EVER. HOOK YOUR ATO STRAIGHT TO YOUR RODI!) After a 2 year emotional hiatus, I got back into it this past October. Started out with live rock from Tampa Bay Saltwater and things are looking amazing. Here's where we stand today. I look forward to learning from you all and sharing what I've learned along my 22 year reefing journey.
