Longer Photoperiod, Faster Growth?

Interesting question, logically you might say yes, but there are limits. Corals need periods of rest as well from photosynthetic processes.

There was an article that discusses this, there appears to be a point of diminishing returns with respect to photo period.

Don’t quote me directly but something like more than 16 hours gave the best results. I guess they need to rest.

There are many articles that theorize that increasing alk will encourage faster coral growth. Google it.

I dont think increasing the photo period will result in faster growth, I think the result would likely be xoolanthalae (sp?) will over produce causing the coral to brown. Just my guess but I dont know for sure.
