Longest time you've had a fishy sump?

How long have you had a fish in your sump area? I recently had to banish my pygmy angel to sump jail. I'm curious what is the longest amount of time you've had to sentence a fish. I'm working on getting a nano setup so that I can rehome it, but it's going to be longer than originally expected. Thanks for the replies in advance!

I haven't had any make it to the sump yet. ... but my yellow eye kole tang spent 6 days trapped under a rock haha

I'm ashamed to say I once kept a domino damsel down in the sump for almost a year. Nobody wanted him - not even the LFS.

I know a guy who kept a tomato clown in his sump for 5 years. The poor thing finally jumped - probably committed suicide. :cry:

I also had a domino damsel in the sump...he was cool until he drew blood! He wasn't down there too long, but after having to catch him with a tiny hook I didn't want to do that again!

No fish in my sump yet. I have no choice but to add my snowflake eel to my 120 soon so he will be put in the sump (or more likely the remote fuge) when more fish get introduced then reintroduced once the new fish get settled in. I want to add him last, but the tank he is currently in will be my QT, so I need him out before new fish go in.

Just add a light and a few rocks and then they can stay forever. It's the same thing as long as there is enough room for the fish. I would have no issue keeping a clown or a damsel in my sump

I think this one needs some explanation.

I'm aware of how to do this and that it would be ok in doing so. I'm just asking how long have others had their fish there in seclusion. :xd:

Oh my...and he was fine? At what point did you realize he was stuck? Obviously after 6 days but what led you to that?

Yeah, it swam off just fine. I actually noticed it on day 2 and figured he was a goner. On the sixth day I did a little bit of rescaping and when I lifted the rock he darted out and BAM right into the side of the tank. I could actually hear it slap the glass when it hit. Poor guy was in time out for six days haha

I put a blue devil damsel in the refugium for killing a flame angel. I forgot all about him for two weeks and found he had jumped out.

The refugium area was infested with majano's and I kept him down there until he ate every single one, then left him there for a extra month just to make sure.

I have a Flame Hawk that has been in my tank about 5-6 years. About a year and a half ago, he jumped in the overflow of my 140. I thought he had died and about six moths later, I noticed he was inside of the overflow. It took me a while to get him out, but I was able to return him to the tank. About three days later, he jumped back in the overflow. He has been in there now for about a year. He likes it in there, I guess. I just have to throw a little food in there each day and he is happy. I will get him out again, but will need to cover the overflow. I almost hate to do that, because I don't want to find him all dried out on top of the overflow cover when he tries to get back in. So, he is still there.
