Longfin Clownfish Prazipro Use For Stringy White Poop

Hello Everyone,

I noticed tonight my smallest clownfish had white stringy poop coming out of him. First time seeing this as I thought maybe it was from me feeding them since last week, frozen mysis shrimp. From what people are sharing with me, that it could be a parasite. I thought okay, ill go ahead and order the Prazipro.

I want to make sure I am doing this correctly. I have a 20 gallon Nuvo with red blood shrimp and some snails. No other fish but the two long fins. I have a UV sterilizer along with chemipure blue. Do I get rid of the chemipure blue and turn off my UV?

Also, when do I need to start water changes and how much? I am sure it will affect my coral a bit but that's normal since it is medication but I heard they will come back around after 3 to 5 hours.

Am I missing anything? Maybe adding some Carbon at the end and leaving in there for a few weeks? I will also start with giving life spectrum pellets.

Prazipro can eliminate most but not all of the internal pathogens that can be causing the white stringy poop. When paired with Metro, which can eliminate some of the other internal pathogens, you get a more complete treatment. Here's a thread by Humblefish with complete info. See numbers 1&2:

Hi bud,

thanks for taking the time and sharing some info. It def helped. One question I do have is should i turn my UV sterilizer off? Along with taking out my chemipure blue? Should i run 2 treatments in two weeks instead of just running one for a week?
After either the first water change or 2nd water change (depending if I treat twice) do i put carbon at the end?

Turn off the sterilizer. It can negate the effects of the praziquantel for at least 24 hours, 48 would be better. As that is the most active time for the prazi to do its work then it declines rapidly.
You don't want to run any other chemicals during the prazi treatment.
Dosing Prazipro: Don't follow the instructions on the bottle.
Dose, wait 5-7 days. Then do a 25% water change. Then, do the next dose, wait 5-7 days. Then do a 25% water change. Then observe for 10 days. We have seen some prazi resistant parasites. So it's important to observe carefully. And if necessary there are stronger measures. So keep us in the loop
