As of recently he has been sitting at the bottom of the tank instead of near the top and not swimming around much. He also did not eat much last night. This morning I went to check up on him and the back of his body is turning brown and he is still not moving much. I can try to get a picture if really necessary, thanks!

Have you tested your water? Sounds like he is afraid or stressed. Many fish turn color when stressed or when they are resting at night. Are there any fish harassing the cowfish?

Doesn't sound good to me. Are you able to move him to a QT, if he dies, he can release a toxin in the water and potentially kill your other fish. I say can release, because they don't always do it. But the swimming on the bottom isn't a good sign, they tend to get a little more black brown as they mature, but still alot of yellow.

He just died after I tried to feed him :'( so sad to lose a long tankmate, him and the porcupine puffer were great friends :( thank you both for trying to help, I appreciate it. RIP pal!

Sorry about your fish!
