Really had to resist an impulse buy at the LFS today. They had 2 tiny little longhorn cowfish. Now I'm doing my due diligence in researching them. I see LA lists 250 gallons! as the min tank size. How fast do these guys grow? I have a 75g tank. How long would I be able to keep a tiny one before it outgrows it?

Also LA lists compatibility as Caution with Hawkfish and puffers. Anyone ever kept one of these with hawkfish or dwarf puffers?

I think its because they tend to pick on the cowfish. Cowfish from what I have read will release a poison if it gets picked enough. I would love to get one but always been afraid of that happening.

With that said my buddy had one in a 125 for many years until he upgraded to a 240g

It won't outgrow a 75 for at least a year.

I've had a baby valentini with a thornback for the last few months. They have ignored each other. But there is a risk of the cowfish getting nipped.
