I have a mates pair of longnose hawks. Up until yesterday both were always out in the open. Now one is missing and the other is in hiding unless I am feeding the tank. They have been in the tank for 3 or 4 months and I haven’t added anything new. Tank mates include a magnificent foxface, melanarus, 2 OC Clowns, some Chromis, a diamond watchman, and a couple of PJ cardinals. I’m hoping the other guy is in hiding, but this has never happened before.

Congrats on the mated pair!
. They are awesome together.

Are they huge?

Hard to tell age if you've only had them for a few months but they are supposedly only good for about 5 years lifespan.

They’re about 2.5” long. I added a 2” melanrus wrasse about 2 months ago. I haven’t seen any signs of aggression. I’m starting to fear the one hawk is dead. I sat in front of my tank for about an hour. No sign of him or his corpse. The other is hiding under a rock and comes out to feed or chase away a Chromis that goes in his cave.
