I recently had my fire shrimp pass away due to a failed molt and I desperately need a replacement critter. I tend to over feed my tank quite a bit because the clowns waste food and I like to feed my corals (scoly, RBTA, and LPS) at least a couple of times a week. My CUC is currently a whole bunch of micro brittle stars, astrea, turbo, and stomatella snails, plus a sexy shrimp but he’s just a whole lotta butt shaking and not much detritus eating. Since the fire shrimp died, I’ve noticed a lot of detritus build up and it’s really gross, so I need a critter that does the same thing. I have a 20 gallon bare bottom peninsula tank, with plenty of hidey holes in the live rock. Thanks y’all!

I use a brittle star to clean up extra food, an army of trochus and nerite snails, and two conchs. My tank substrate is always cleaned by the morning with this cleanup crew. Safe for your corals as well.

Ditto on the brittle star (just not a green one), or maybe a serpent star? I have a red one, and the black/white banded ones also add some color.

FTS to help with some visioning, I was thinking maybe another fire shrimp/peppermint shrimp? Do either of these hurt clams?

Are these okay with no sand?

I've never had a tank with no sand, so I'm not sure. I would think they would be ok since you have plenty of rock (mine is generally in the rock work during the day). I love the fire shrimp, though. Such striking color!
