I'm putting together an 80 gallon tank (48x24x18 Deep Blue Frag) and want to have a custom stand built for it. I'm having issues finding local individuals who can build a quality stand for a reasonable price. Does anyone either have a stand they would be interested in selling or know of a reputable company in the Jacksonville, Florida area that can design and build one?

Thanks!

I have the same tank, I'm assuming you did not like the stand they they sell with these?

I don't for a couple of reasons:

1. - they're expensive and from what I can tell not super good quality. I'd rather spend double on a stand that is fitted to my needs
2. - I really don't like the center brace that blocks a good portion of the sump access. I think it's poorly designed and will make maintenance in the sump more difficult than it needs to be
3. - similarly, I'm going with a large sump (36" trigger crystal elite) and am worried about it fitting underneath that stand
4. - I've heard people having issues with the overflow aligning with the hole in the stand for plumbing

I'd rather just have something designed myself that will be exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want to spend $X,000 on a setup to not be satisfied with it. Plus the dimensions are ideal to eventually upgrade to a 120, so I see the stand lasting much longer than the tank will.

I agree with you 100%. I do have the stand and feel the same way about it. But I was given a good deal on it. The drain was a non issue for me as it lined up nicely, but it is dumb that they didn't design the stand for each tanks needs, the center brace is way oversized and I am thinking of retrofitting the stand to eliminate it for ease of access. If you do find someone to build it I would love to see it so I know what I'm missing out on.

Good luck with build.

will do! I'd build it myself if I had any DIY skills or a single tool beyond a hammer, measuring tape, and screw drivers...haha. I've gotten a couple of quotes - basic setup that are 48x24x36 (I want one on the tall side since the tank is shallow) with doors spanning the entire front and doors on both sides in the $600-$700 area (all hardwood with no 2x4 frame). That amount isn't finished...just the basic stand construction. I may do that and put the finishing touches on it myself (paint, trim, etc). I wanted to see if there were any other options available!

So funny, I have this same tank and also looking for a custom stand builder in SW FL. There is a ton of ppl just recently getting into these DB.

it's a great tank for an even better price. I've heard as long as you change out the bulkheads before doing anything else, there usually isn't an issue with them.
