Looking for a dim-to-zero sunrise/sunset option

Hey all,

I am looking for something to give me a sunrise/sunset effect on the tank. I am talking about some kind of light source that comes on very near zero and can ramp up to, at least visually, something comparable to main aquarium lighting. I am already using kessils and dimming them throughout the day but I am just looking for something to bridge that gap between dark and sudden on in the morning, and dusk to sudden off at night. The kessils cut on/off at a little less than 20%, which is fairly dim, but I am looking for a seamless transition between dark and light.

Do dimmable T5s dim to near zero or cut off at a certain threshold? If dimmable T5 still jump from "off" to "fairly bright" then it would seem LED are my only option.

I do not want to build my own LED fixture.

I already have my main tank lighting figured out - I don't care if this light is capable of growing coral or even built for aquarium use. I will just be using it for sunrise/sunset effect.

Would prefer an option that integrates with the apex (likely via 0-10v input).

I have Radions at the moment but am following along here as I like the idea of T5's but, like you it seems, also the more natural up/down curve of a sunrise, daytime, sunset schedule. The Radions do this perfectly but I'm keen on other solutions. Surprised to hear Kessils don't do this - I'd kind of assumed they would be the same as Radions.

Could you just add a basic cheap LED unit to cover that sunrise/sunset period?

I think I have just what you need, I have a maxspect razor light that does what your looking for.
