Picked this blackspot wrasse up tonight, looked fine in store , got home temp acclimated it ,opened the bag was just laying in the bottom not really moving , drip acclimated it for about 20min should have gone longer wantted to get itin QT tank(used collender to transfer?, looks like it scrapped itself on something? But what could it have scrapped itself on in a bag? Or disease? Treat or let go for a few days? It is up and swimming around.
Thanks for any help nate

This is not uncommon with these Wrasse.

Keep an eye on it. Agree with @Big G antiseptic will help prevent infection if it is a minor cut or injury.

Hit the old amazon should be here sunday , in case my LFS does not carry it.

Great, just making sure. Soaking food in selcon wouldn't hurt either. Do you have any antibiotics on hand in case it gets infected? I would get some in case the ruby reef doesn't do the job. Not sure which one would be best though but others can assist like @Humblefish, he has a thread or sticky on bacterial infections you should check out. Good luck!

I have Fishmox ,melafix, pimafix on hand
Will look into selcon. Thank you

Fishmox is the only antibiotic out of those 3 and its amoxicillin I believe, which is not the best choice based on my research in the past. Some good choices are metronidazole (seachem metroplex), kanamycin (seachem kanaplex), and API Furan 2. The "trifecta" for stubborn infections is all 3 together. Not sure which you would try first before doing that but check the bacterial infection thread. You can find all on Amazon as well. Good luck.

What about vitachem instead of selcon?
Going threw bacteria thread now

Ok I'll order up some selcon , however I don't
Think its going to make it , It was up amd swimming around this am , now hes laying on breathing heavier but , does get up and swim once in awhile.

Rough, all that stuff is good to have anyway. Hopefully she pulls through.

Just got a text from my wife that she passed on and is 8n freezer. :(

Thanks it does suck ,part of the hobby unfortunately:( .

I'd suspect uronema. in the future hypersalinity 37ppt can keep it at bay. otherwise chloroquine tx would be best.

I have a box of API erythromycin. It’s pretty much the same thing you take but in an easier form to use. It’s pretty broad spectrum and most pet stores carry it.

If it was Uronema wouldn't be showing on clowns ? Just looked at humblefish's thread on it looks like flesh isn't scratched or torn in his photos?
