Anyone have a recommendation of who makes a good RR tank? I currently have a 240, I want smaller/shorter as this is a 72x24x31 tall that I have now. I'm thinking I'd like to get between 150 and 200 gallons.

Your 240 will of course work just fine. I personally love my 180, 72x24x24. The footprint is the same however you can actually reach the bottom without sticking your head in the water. LOL...

That being said, I am assuming you have a 240 that is not reef ready? I bet you could post a trade out there!

Ya, I'm tired of taking a bath in my tank! I'm wanting to nuke it and restart anyhow. I do love your tank Bart. Is there any stores that sell dsa or are they direct order only? If I do change tanks I would like a little more front to back real estate. Main point no more swimming with the fish!

I've seen the red sea tank. It's beautiful, only a little more than I want to spend on a tank though.
I already have leds, vortechs, ect so I might as well stay with a normal tank.

I bought the Tank Bart has from AC I am not sure if they still build tanks anymore though, You could call Chris @ AC and see if he can still get them as the Freight from Texas would be quite high IMO

I called ac and Chris is out for the weekend. Does anyone else have any recommendations? I think I'm leaning to more the cube'ish shape.

Check out our sponsor and R2R sponsor Reef Savvy The best tank builder in the US. I own one myself and someone else will close by will also ;)

I would think a tank of the size you are wanting, that the shipping is gonna take a nice chunk out of the wallet.

I 2nd Reef Savvy, I picked one up in Miami last summer, but sold it before doing the build. DSA is still in business, however they no longer have a distributor (Hagen was distributing, and still may) in this region, I bought a Neo 90 from AC a couple years ago. I tried to buy another DSA tank from AC and Chris said he can't get them anymore.

A tank that size will likely be around $1,800ish (depends if you want Starphire type glass) and other variables like overflow design, how tall (anything over 20" he uses 3/4" glass), etc...it could get up into the low $2Ks...shipping for that size tank, uhh, I'd say $800-$1,000 probably...

I would also consider A.G.E. for a custom tank...

Otherwise, I think it's hard to beat a standard 120g RR tank (48x24x24) from a commercial company...

How about the 150 DD or 200 DD from Marineland: Saltwater Tanks | Deep Dimension Aquariums Perfect for Freshwater and Saltwater tanks

if you have contact with Ty from ocea.. he might be able to start building tanks again.. he had signed a non compete when he sold the company however they went out of business after he sold it.. so he might be able to start buildiing tanks again.. i have had a few of his tanks and loved all of them..

His prices are very reasonable. And the shipping would probably be the same if not a cheaper that most big box tank manufacturer.

Nope. After talking with Felix, his new shipping prices are really cheap. If you consider you don't have to pay tax, it is not much more :)

$800 - $1000 for shipping???? Not from Felix. I would say more like $400-500 max!

thanks for checking on that Rick...good to know

Yeah, thanks Rick, that is good to know, I might have my next one shipped...he must have found a new shipping method... I found a shipper last fall who could ship that large stand to Madison, WI, for around $120 (with me putting it on a pallet and taking to the shipper in Smyrna, only $60 more for pickup at the house). I sent him the shipping broker info, so maybe this is who he's using now.

My previous tank 48x28x20, with crate ($175ish), then shipped for around $400-$500...I was just figuring $300-$400 more for a larger tank as described... Hmmm, I think I need to get a shipping quote...LOL
