So I just installed a 120 gallon tank in place of my 90. Removed all fish and substrate. Began adding water to overflow portion to make sure my bulkheads are good. I’m doing so I noticed the plastic overflow is leaking at the joint where it’s attached to glass. Is this ok? I figured once I fill tank it wouldn’t be an issue. Please need quick advice on this one. dang forgot about that. That’s an issue eventhough I have a 20 gallon sump . Guess I will silicone from the inside amd leave fish in garbage can for now

If you are just using an open drain, like a durso way up high, it won't be a problem.

If you have the bulkhead open one the very bottom of the overflow as a siphon, then the tank could eventually drain.

Hope that makes sense

Ok I am using the durso so it shouldn’t be a problem. I guess it will only drain to the bottom of the durso and the rest of the water will stabilize. It should be ok then.

As long as the pipe going into the bulkhead is tight, yes.

If I run a filet of silicone on the inside will it be ok tomorrow to add fish back in

I would give it a few days to cure.

Curious about your substrate portion of this job, are you putting back the original sand or cleaning it before put back

was it cloudy when you removed it, as in full gray water cloudy

ok since it’s empty I decided to silicone the sides. Can’t hurt amd I had some ASI silicone left over from the reseal job.
Using same substrate beach sand. This is currently a Cichlid tank that will eventually get converted. Going to slowly collect stuff to make it a reef tank. As of now this will be my cichlid home.

Lol. Same here. I ended buying 3 more tanks just to keep babies. I now just let Mother Nature take over and the babies become food. I couldn’t keep up with all of them
