Looking for a reef controller but not a WTB

I would try and find a used apex JR. you can find them pretty cheap and would do what you want. I’m also a cheap guy but I ended up finding a great deal on a full apex system and I absolutely love it.

That is probably the cheapest option for you at the moment and I would second that recommendation. You can find them for circa $100 on for sale fora.

100$? That’s awesome I’ll have to keep an eye out

I say save your pennies, nickles, dimes and quarters.... and just jump into the Apex swimming hole like the rest of us.

At a $500 entry level system.... tell me it's not worth the investment to be on vacation 1,000 miles from home and MONITOR your tank via your phone....

Last year I had my toes in the sand, 760miles from home... I was able to monitor my tank visually via a webcam plus looking at the Apex parameters #s all on my phone while on the beach. I had my stepdad a 15min drive to my house in case I saw smthg wrong.

The power of knowledge like that and control like that is worth the price of admission with Neptune Apex. Run with the big dogs or stay a lap dog on the porch

plus Neptune Apex is the market leader on new innovations.

jump in.... you won't regret it. my Apex is a single BEST thing I ever bought for my reef
+1

I just got into the hobby a year ago. Being my first build I didn't see myself spending the money on an apex. The release of the EL definitely changed my mind. Worth every penny of the $500. I'd say spend 50 bucks now on a timer for your lights and an inkbird for your heater and save up for a controller if you feel you may want one in the future. Buying bits and pieces ends up being more costly in the long run when you decide to upgrade and replace it all.

BRS wishlist is a handy tool to send to all your family and friends:) when I get asked what I want for bday, father's day, Christmas, etc...boom BRS wishlist sent lol

Looks like there is a new controller on the market...GHL will probably make an announcement shortly - if they haven't already.

If you have any experience with electronics you could look into Reef Angel or ReefPi. I have a Reef Angel and I really like it. It requires some knowledge on basic coding, but don't let that scare you. You don't have to be a computer scientist, just have to understand how code works and be able to copy and paste bits of code in the right place. The Reefpi is more like a DIY version of the Reef Angel. The Reef Angel is $400 new for the star version. I have the plus version which can do all the same stuff. You can find used Reef Angel units for sale for much less as well.
