Hi there,

I was given a free canister filter today and was wondering what to put in there that could feed my corals. I already have one with Carbon and the other with Phosminus but the later is shut off since I have 0.00 P04 almost constantly.

Actually here are my parameters:
Temp 25.6
Ph 8.14 - 8.34
Cal 450
Alk 9.3 (usually kept at 8 but for some reason it raised over the past two weeks)
Mg 1370
No3 <0.5
PO4 0.00 (sometimes 0.02)

So here's what I was thinking.
Why not put bio balls or rumble of marine pure into the canister, grow bacteria and then shake it from time to time to get the bacteria into the water collumn and feed the corals. I feel like my reasoning sounds crazy but hell I don't see what's the harm. Anyone care to tell me why it wouldn't work or has a better idea to use my canister?
The tank is fairly new, a little over 3 years and it's been stable for the past year and a half; but the rocks and water were from one of my previous system that was about 5 years old.

Another possibility is to use it as a water polisher.

Yes, you need to use it appropriately. What I have done in the past is to use the the polisher canister occasionally (not all of the time).
