If it's cycled and all your parameters are good........I say go for it.

Maybe try a couple of cheaper things and see how they do. Are you in Knoxville? I'd be happy to give you a zoa or 2 to use as guinea pigs.

I live in clinton but yes i will come to knoxville thank you

Absolutely!

Welcome to R2R and the ETRC (East TN Reef Club) forum. Congrats on the tank. Don't hesitate to ask any questions, there are a lot of knowledgable reefers here.

Many of the Knoxville ETRC members frequent a local fish store called Aquatic Marine on Clinton Hwy. I'd be happy to meet you over there sometime if you'd like.

Yes it is cycled i got it to cycle in a week i have a couple clowns in in and i have some hermit crabs probably like 16 or so right now. I played with a few lights a green and black

What ever time be good for you i am off work till friday

I'll let you know. I'm getting a new tank tomorrow, so I will be visiting Aquatic Marine quite often in the near future.

Yea i have been to aquatic marine a few times getting things from there. Also i bought a rodi unit there live rock a few crabs. Thinking about going over there in a little while to look at fish thinking about adding another one. 2 small clowns or not much in a 155

Don't worry, you'll have it filled up before you know it. :D

When you say it has cycled, can you tell us what your parameters have checked out at? Specifically, Ammonia & Nitrate. If the levels are 0, how long have they been at 0? If you start with beginner corals, you won't have to focus too much on things like Ca or Mg just yet. But you will need to at least make sure you pH and Alkalinity are at a good, and more importantly stable level.

I am not trying to doubt your knowledge here. I can't tell you how many times I have come across people who think their tank is cycled, but being new to the hobby (not sure if you are completely new or not) don't know what all that exactly entails. I would hate it if your tank wasn't completely ready yet and you added stuff just to see it die, and then get frustrated or disinterested in the hobby.

Cheers!

Ammonia 0 and nitrate 0 nitrite .25 been there for 2.5 weeks now ph staying at 8.2 and 8.4 right now moves up and down between the 2

Yea i wanting to add some corals now and only thing i need to get is some better lighting

That rock is so clean. Having cycled, and at a month old, I would expect it to be in the "ugly" state - i.e.. algae, diatoms, etc. Are these recent pictures @purkey?

Yes they are recent pics this is why im looking for help on the tank. Yes they are clean not much algae. That is why i am hunting for help on the tank now i do not know much about saltwater any advice will be taken

That is exactly what caught my eye and prompted my earlier questions. The other thing that baffles me is the presence of Nitrites but no Nitrates.

@purkey - did you ever see your Nitrates 0 for a good bit of time? And did you see the expected spike in Nitrates and slowly coming down over a period of time? I fear that you might still be at the stage where your Nitrites aren't being broken down sufficiently, which means that you might still have a Nitrate spike at some point.

All i have right now are florescent lights right now been looking at lights for a little while and still not know what to go with yet

With fluorescent lights, you are going to be limited to only soft corals. Even with those, and taking into account the depth of your tank, I'm not sure how well they will do.

When i set the tank up i ent and got all my water from the aquarium. And got stabilty from aquatic marine used it for a week like it says. After that when the tank was empty no fish or anything put some clowns in and hermit crabs and the nitrates spike up and went back down so i added more hermits and now the levels are holding now but i dont know what i am waiting on now to add coral that is why i asking for some help on it now fish and crabs all doing good. Still not algae in tank and im getting impatient but im trying to stay patient withbit all. Thanks everyone for all info and advice on this tank.
