Looking for advise new tank algae blahhhh

Have a WB40 it’s 4 months old. Have several RFA, BTA, crabs, shrimp, urchin, feather duster and cleanup crew. Have a outbreak of web like, snotty brown algae growing quicker than I can get ride of it. Do 10% weekly WC. Turkey bast rock work and sand daily. Clean up crew kills it over night but midday its back. Running a skimmer, filter cup with chemipure elite, carbon, media balls, bag of phosguard to lower phosphate.

Can you get a picture with less blue?
Does it have bubbles forming under it - if you blow it with a turkey baster does it float to the top?

Probably either cyan or dino's.

Yes, it does float around. Looks stringy when it’s dislodged. I’ll get better photos later today. Sometimes has bubbles but hard to tell if it’s from skimmer sticking to it. Have a spot of GHA. I remove weekly and cleanup crew attacks it daily as well.

Forgot to say I also added agh coralline purple helix and algae barns pods to help remedy been 4 days.

That looks similar to what I was dealing with on my tank. My reef is roughly 5 months old and I was battling the brown clumpy sand bed for months. I added some tiger conch snails and they devoured the stuff. I also added a UV sterilizer to my tank not sure if that helped at all. The brown sand has been gone for a month now maybe your tank just need to age a bit or maybe some conchs could help you out!

Yup got a tiger conch in there as well he’s a animal chews it up. Maybe I should add another? Sump is small not sure how I’d plumb in a oversized UV?

You should add another if you want one! I have 2 tiger conchs in my 75 gallon and they hang out together all the time its funny to watch. As for the UV situation I'm in a similar boat. Right now I'm using an in tank UV. The main reason I got it was for a bacteria bloom I got a few months back. It cleared up the bloom in 2 days. Something weeks of water changes couldn't do haha. You could try the hang on UV's for your sump. I was actually looking at upgrading to the Aqua Ultraviolet 15 watt UV. It looks pretty nice for price!

Snotty, comes back with light, sounds like dinoflagellate. You will need a cheap microscope to confirm to determine if it is dinos and why type it is in order to know which method of removal.

Do you dose phyto? I increased my feeding to daily and I seem to have less algae. The carbon will strip water of nutrients like phyto, amino acids. I stopped using it and will only use it on certain occasions. I feed my fish twice daily mostly quality flake blend, frozen a few days a week. Also dose zooplankton a few times a week. My corals and fish seem to be doing better, they were okay before this but getting better growth and color from the corals. Stop using the carbon and phosguard, you are stripping your water of nutrients.

I have a 7 inch clam, 200 assorted snails and getting another 80 this week from ReefCleaners.com, I removed all my hermits for destroying my branching Monti.

Three things got rid of my algae:

1) Strong UV light
2) Started an Oxydator (look for threads on this site)
3) Phytoplankton every other day

Before and after pics (also have since increase the light intensity by 5% on my Radions)

Yes I recently put in AlgaeBarns pods and feed daily with Phyto. Reason for the carbon is tank is full of different Nems.

Try using a ATS(algae turf scrubber) it might help.
