Hi guys,

I need a skinny but long and tall ATO box and haven't had any luck finding any rubbermaid or what not containers. I thought about maybe making one but I don't know how to do that.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find or buy one?

TIA :)

How many gallons? My wife buys these Rubbermaid containers for cereal. They are tall and maybe 3-4 in wide at the most. I think the biggest one will hold a gallon or more.

Brute makes a 10 gal office trash can, you can google Brute cans and see all the sizes

some more info might be useful. for instance, what are the dimensions of the space you have available? what dimension is "skinny"(could be 3-8")?

im with ^^those guys. custom may be the way to go for you. EliteAquatics, Synergy, Advanced Acrylics..should be able to help you out.

fyi, synergy has a 5 gal ATO, its only 6" wide.

Awesome thanks everyone. I need at least 10g otherwise i'll be filling it every other day. The footprint needs to be no bigger than 8" x 20". I didn't want to spend $200 on a plastic box for ATO but it looks like that is the way I'm going to have to go.

There is a slightly used advanced acrylics custom for sale in the NJ Reefers site. If I recall its narrow and tall.
AA makes a stock 9g that's 8x16 that would also work. (I just ordered one last week)

Pretty sure Marc (@melev ) could hook you up with something that would work. I have a few reefing friends that have some of his acrylic creations and they are really pleased with the quality. Might be worth a PM to him, or check out his website.

Oh okay. I saw the sizes on his website and a couple of them would work :)

Where will the discharge from the ATO be going?
Into the sump? If, yes, how tall is your sump?

The discharge opening will be the height limit of your ATO container's water level. If the water level is any higher it will siphon out. I had that issue when looking for a tall and narrow container. Ended up with an AA one, but can't fill it up all the way --- I have to leave a couple of inches.

Thanks for the links guys... unfortunately they are to big for my space.
