Hello all. This has been spreading like wildfire lately on my rock. I think at this point it’s irritating my corals, where it’s touching them. It started out small on one rock. My lfs believes it’s a type of anthelia or clove (which I’ve never added). My question is, what is it? Two, how do I kill it lol ??
Thanks

After closer review it's not what I thought it was. It looks like some sort of clove polyp. I wonder if one of my comrade from #reefsquad may know how to eradicate them

If you pull the rock out you might be able to peel them off or scrape them. Manual removal might be easier at this point.

There’s no way I can manually remove them. They’re on several rocks, and my tanks been set up almost 3 years, so the coral is encrusted and has some rocks fused together. Is there any other ways that y’all know of? Appreciate the help.

I’ve read a little bit about fenbendazole but I don’t see any way of getting it. Does anyone have experience with this, or know where I could get it? Thanks for the responses so far

Looks like Anthelia to me.

Stuff can spread like wildfire. You can peel it off the rock and then Joe's juice the remainder to some effect. I ended up getting rid of all the rocks it was on in an old tank.

One of those corals that needs to be on an isolated rock.

It almost seems to be individual stalks. I haven’t tried to peel it yet, but I have scrubbed it. It’s crazy though, because I started this tank with this rock, and I’ve never added anthelia or cloves, which seems to be the other possibility. It’s definitely spreading fast. Any way to kill it in the tank as removing rocks is really not gonna work unfortunately?

If it is Anthelia, there will (usually) be a white tissue near the base that will be a bit encrusting. The problem with Anthelia is that it's very resilient so it could have survived the trip in the live rock or even had a small bit of tissue on a frag.

If you can peel the base tissue off, it will actually come up fairly easily (or it did for me, ymmv). From there just check for remaining tissue as it can come back, so you'll probably want to super glue/ epoxy/ kalk paste any residual. I kept mine pseudo in check by regularly peeling the base back and using a razor to trim it back to where I wanted. Let me see if I can find a picture of my old 90 where I had it on the main rock work....

You could try using a paste made from kalkwasser powder - smother them with the paste (powerheads and return off for a while to let it set on 'em). Don't try to do them all at the same time - your water's chemistry will go nutz and probably kill everything in your tank. Do a small patch, then maybe another patch next week or so. Test your Calcium and Alkalinity, and let your tank tell you when it's ready for another dose. (Try not to get the kalk paste on any of your other corals.)

I would risk breaking a few corals and removing the rock to manually remove versus having the coral get smothered buy the cloves/anthelia.
