Hello, was wondering what this thing growing in my tank is? Some sort of sponge? I wasn't able to find it in the help threads.

sorry don't know name but I haven't seen any harm brought it them. however do note that sponges are known to release toxins so never say never I guess. I personally have not seen any problems with these

Good guys. I have them too. Be wary if they come out of the shadows. I’ve seen them strangle palys. They usually grow with a mat and are easily “prunable” lol I don’t let any sponges grow in the light but they can have the shadows and the sump

Looks like yellow sponge (clathrina) harmless filter feeder.
