Located in south Florida and am in desperate need of some bryopsis. Lettuce seaslugs just had babies and are about to run out of food. 7DFD03EF-F2CB-4984-A78A-92E7640FD84C.jpeg

Sorry, first thought that popped into my head is someone needs a therapist. DOn't have any to offer either.
I intend to setup a bryopsis grow out tank if that makes it any worse lol. Stupid things I got to help kill the algae are now one of my favorite things in the tank behind my meandering and pistol/gobie pair.

Dang.. I had a field of it in a QT tank but killed it all recently.

Did you find any? When I read this yesterday, my first thought was where are you in Florida as your state is HUGE but there are MANY local clubs which you could put out word and may be a local ride away. FMAS is likely affiliating with DFWMAS, which is how I got some insight into local FL clubs. Sorry I killed my bryopsis last Spring.

Is bryopsis ALL that they eat? Thought they also do hair algae, nori....

Fingers crossed babies and parents have enough food... Irony is it is Thanksgiving week - THE WEEK HUMANS OVER EAT - slugs should NOT starve this week :( (sad)

I was with above, cant they just eat nori/seaweed. What type of sea slug, lettuce? If so havent seen captive bred versions so that is really cool

No they can not eat any dead algae and they only eat bryopsis and one or two other types (not ones common in tanks). They won’t even touch hair algae. They don’t actually eat it they piece the cell and suck out the liquid insides like a spider.
And yeah I posted to fmas lately however the fmas forums here and on reef central have been dead along with the Facebook group.

I even went to the bad fish store to see if I could find any growing in their ugly tanks and nope.

FMAS isn't dead; they are having a holiday pot luck at a school next week I think. They held their Nov meeting on 11/4. They do seem to like FB more these days (I'm not much into FB), but I was reaching out to them to affiliate FMAS with DFWMAS. Maybe try their FB Florida Marine Aquarium Society page as that is how I've communicated with FMAS before going 1:1 thru email
