Looking for Custom Sump Options

It's not appropriate to mention names or blast specific companies. I was mainly venting becuase it frustrating when you can't even get a return call or reply email. I gues business is that good for some that new bsuiness is not needed. And I called and emailed more than once in each instance.

And once you mention the word "custom" and/or go "outside the numbers" the price will jump considerably. Most want to build stock sumps and stay away from custom orders.
just looking for the facts, not blasting, in hopes to saves many others, including myself, time and money. that's the beauty of this forum is the information density. but of course up to you on how you want to share or not share the specificities of your interactions.

g'luck on your search and be sure to post up when you settle on your solution!

I'm doing the exact same thing as OP right now and getting quotes from various vendors. I made the mistake of trying to get a quote from MRC and I can echo what was said about their customer service, its horrible, and down right rude. I didn't even have a problem that needed solved and was just trying to give them my money...never ever again.

For those of you looking for custom, contact Modular Marine. They have been awesome with me so far! My sump is currently being built, will post pics when it is done!

Got my stuff from Brian at Modular Marine today...it's top notch work:

What didn't you like about your 75 sump? What would you have added if you could have? I have made several kits for 75 gallon sumps that included pretty much everything you would want. Drop in sock holders, refugium section, adjustable skimmer with in media/foam chamber. They are pretty cheap if you don't mind a little DIY. They are even cheaper if you already own the aquarium.

Here’s the sump design I went with on my 480 . 72x36x18 with a large refugium section .

We are going with a custom sump from ZeroEdge Aquarium. Owner takes a few days to get back to you but was by far the best price and most willing to do what we wanted. Hopefully the turn around time isn't too terribly long but we're still not ready for fish yet anyway. More time for the rock to cure I guess.

To all that posted in this thread; I really appreciate your comments. Reading this thread has been a great education for me. Being new to reef tanks, I don't what questions to ask and I don't know what I don't know; except this a lot of money. I will spend money to get what I need, but I just can't spend dumb money. I am considering a 375-gallon tank and want to use the Triton Method. Finding a sump with a 40-gallon refugium before the skimmer section has kept up me late for most of the past week. I wished that I had found this thread 2-weeks ago. Thanks again.
