So I’m taking the plunge to add corals to my FOWLR (about 10 months old) and am trying to work out if I need to build out the aquascape to get height, and just for general thoughts.

Tank is planned to be soft corals and an anemone for the clowns. Maybe maybe maybe try LPS at some point.

Plan is to nix the submarine, then place some small rock islands in the sandbed area, two to host zoas, one to host GSP (GSP to be at back) and 2/3 Zoas spaced around the open area at the base.

Plan to try out an anemone on the purple rock at the right though aware it might move around. Clowns currently live in the bottom right corner. Not entirely sure what to do with the rock at the left.

The left formation is basically three towers, with a cap, to give lots of caves and passages for the fish that congregate down that end. The rocks are on flat rock at the base on the glass so should be stable, but when I add some more flow I need to cement them together more.

Worried I don’t have enough height, but wary about trying to increase the tower heights at this side, and maybe best to leave it to give any corals that get out here to have space to grow.

Looking for any input / advice.

Well without knowing the type of lights you are using I’ll assume that they are fine. The corals you will be placing in there require moderate to low light. I think the top of the rock will be fine for lps and your softies can be on the lower rock and Islands. However the more rock the more surface area for beneficial bacteria and you may change your mind and want some easier sps. I would highly recommend adding at least a piece of real ocean live rock. You’ ll thank me later.

Thank you.

The lights are going to be Noopsyche k7 (times two) and the tank is a 75 gallon rimmed, so my understanding is this should be good for most things I’m going to try grow.

Lights aren’t in place yet, hence the almost total lack of algae in the DT…

There’s a sump with a bunch of rock in it also, as a pod farm / mass surface area. In there’s there’s also some cultured live rock and plan to add some ocean live rock also.
