Looking for Filtration advice while on an 8 day trip

Hello...

I'm trying to find a solution from members that may have experience this same problem. I'm leaving on an 8 Day trip and don't know how to handle my Filter Sock issue while I'm away. I normally have to change them every 3-4 days. I'm looking for an alternative method that would filter the same as Socks, but won't need changing so often.
Any Advice would be very appreciated?

if thats the only concern i would just remove the socks for the trip, my sump has an overflow protection so i would just leave it until i get back and if they fill up then water will just flow through the pass through

Filter floss! But if you’re using socks you’re most likely not set up for floss. I’d just take em off the system while your on vacation or you could just let them overflow for the last 4 days

If you're parameters are within your desired range and remain fairly stable, why not just leave the socks out while your gone?

On my 24g I uses floss between my sump baffles (rather than socks). Typically I change it out once a week. While I was away for 24 days this past summer, I had my son stop by and change the floss out ONCE right around the 12 day mark. Tank was fine. If anything, corals and CUC appreciate the slight bit of extra food.

Only noticeable difference when I got home was a bit of film algae on the glass. But really only looked like it went ~5-7 days without cleaning, not 24.

Won't the lack of them not being there reduce the amount of impurities they would have removed from my system. I have a lot of Acro's...there sensitive to changes

For 8 days I'd leave the socks out. You'll have to clean the sump when you get back (optional) Many members here don't run filter socks at all.

IMO remove the socks for the duration of your trip.

does the sock overflow after 4 days?
I diy my sock and they last a week. so I diy a few that is double the bag size using the same ring and lasts 2 weeks.
see if you can find a larger sock that will fit your sock holder.
if you just leave it on, then you will essentially just have 4 days of unfiltered water when you are out 8 days, instead of all 8 days if you take it out before you leave.

BRS has 300 micron socks on clearance for $4.00. They will last longer than the 100 or 200 micron socks. Or you could go with nylon 400 micron socks. They’ll last two weeks.
