Currently have 2 wave makers but they don’t really stir up sand and when running together are way too strong for my euphillia corals.
Here’s my tank...currently running one wavemaker. Neither are controllable.

any suggestions or tips?

Either an MP10 or something as relatively inexpensive as a Jebao whatever they are calling their small pumps these days would work. Both are controllable
Do you think wavemaker/powerhead combo work or just get 2 heads

If it were me, and money no object, I'd get 2.
Now that said an MP10 is a pretty strong pump and could probably handle a 20 long all by itself

I used to have a 20 long and One mp10 will be enough.
I went the jebao route and after they kept breaking I went with an mp10 and a reef octo. Even the smallest reef octo is too big for a 20 long.
Nice looking tank. Looks way bigger than a 20 long with the way the aquascaping is
