Hey guys
Looking to purchase a fragging kit. Would be looking to frag some Zoas, soft corals and sps. Not looking for a saw yet maybe in the future. Would I be best to purchase everything semperate or getting one of these kits? Anyone have one they suggest or recommend? are there specific tools I MUST have. I already have a set of bone cutters. Looking to cover all the bases.
Thanks
Joe

I've purchased the big kits before and the only tools I used where the bone cutters, scalpel, and tweezers.

Honestly bought my fragging kit at harbor freight. I bought scalpels, a set of tweezers and some other things for like 10 dollars. I think half of the stuff in those expansive disection kits is a complete waste of money.

Worst case scenario, you could probably find something lying around the house to substitute for those other tools, if you ever needed them.

you can find scapels, bone cutters on amazon really cheap and good quality. in fact, I use the ones that they use for dissection. super glue from dollar stores. ecotech is nice but just too much for a fragging kit even at 1/2 price, just my 2 cents. ok course some are going to diagree with me.

99 cent store ftw. Scalpels, Super glue, latex gloves, garden/pruning shears, tweezers, containers, safety glasses etc. For $10 I got waaaay more than I wouldve with the ecotech kit.

Walmart nail clippers, with the plastic grips removed...

Flathead screwdriver, tweezers, xacto knife, large dikes(wire cutters), glove, and most of all safety glasses

I have purchased single tools from various places locally!

Dont waste you money on a scalpel - they arent very wet hand friendly to begin with and most are such thin steel that they flex when you apply pressure when cutting. I prefer to buy a box of standard razor blades - it runs about $3 for 100 count and they are nice and sturdy (no flex) and are perfect for cutting zoas, leathers, anemones or prying frags off of plugs.

Bone cutters are also a must for stony corals - I use those most often. Long tweezers are good to keep your fingers out of the super glue.

Super Glue - any brand but get the Gel type, as it doesnt run and sets up nice underwater. I like the loctite gel, as the applicator is nice and precise, but its more expensive than other $1 store kinds.

Frag plugs - which ever kind you like, but if you are putting them into a frag rack, make sure you buy the right sized plug for them. Nothing is more frustrating than spending a hour or two making frags only to find out the plug diameter is too big for your rack!

ecotech would be the way to go. Or you can get the seachem ones and make your own set. You want nice sharp tools that won't rust. This hobby isn't cheap that we all know. But if you want good stuff for fragging I would go with those.
