I've goggled different resources but numbers are all over the place.

I'm in planning stages of my next build and wanted to use 2 bean animal overflows. Looking to see how much of a water flow at full siphone I can get from say

1"
1-1/4"
1-1/2"

... Schedule 80 PVC pipes.

In bean animal setup is it better to run larger bulkhead and pipe for full siphon and then dial it down with a valve or should I get pipe closer to desired flow rates as to avoid having voids and air buildup in the full siphone pipes?

Thank in advance for taking time to answer.

You have to take into account the drop also. A 1" siphon with a 3' drop to an in stand sump will move less than one with a 10' drop to a basement sump. I have always been of the view that you should retain the ability to go larger. In my case, my main siphon is a 1 1/2" bulkhead and 4' of 1 1/2" PVC to a 1 1/2" union. After that, I go to 1"; but should I wish to go to 1 1/2" in the future I can just replace one side of the union. Easy!

Just did 1", moves a solid 700 gph, dead silent, i know that most people think thats not alot but any more a sump is a jacuzzi and 10x is crazy talk. Gate valve closed 25%, originally thought go bigger to be safe but silent is all i was after with moderate flow in tank

Thanks drtrash, what size thank?

I need to handle 2-3 kGPH because I'm going with 2 pump setup for extra flow and redundancy plus my sump is going to be 6ft long so I need extra flow to keep things suspended.
