So I have had my tank up and running for about 2 years now and I've gone through the some ups and downs already with more to come I'm sure. I am still very new to this hobby as this is my first saltwater aquarium. I put months of research and months of slowly purchasing parts to build my 60g display with 55g custom created sump.

I'm looking for everyone's input and thoughts of how I can improve my current sump setup. I will say I am very fortunate to be able to put the sump in the basement directly below the display that's on my main floor. It obviously gives me the ability to have a lot more space. Here is a quick video I took of it.

I'm looking for people's thoughts and opinions (haha, good and bad) and areas that I can improve on. If needed I can certainly go into detail about the different aspects, parts and thoughts behind each.

Looks great. The only thing i would do is practice some cable management.
A large cable race would take care of the unsightly cables gathered behind sump.

Also a black back would clean up the look too :)

Yeah my ocdness hasn't quite caught up to the cable management around the sump. Although, I have found myself quite often pulling pumps, reactors and whatnot to clean them. Hiding all the cables into one loom would be a nightmare for that.

I know, I painted the back of my display black and it looks absolutely amazing. How I didn't have the thought to do the sump as well when I did the display. It does bother me every time I look at it, lol.

Agreed about the single loom.
You could create a solid raceway wall with these smaller races and only place 1 or 2 cables in each one to negate that issue.
But now you have another project lol.
