Good thing is its a glass tank... so take a razer blade and scrap strips of the algae off and be sure to full remove it. As not to throw the system off i wouldnt remove it all at once... because that algea being removed quickly could cause a spike and kill off whats ever in the system.

Have you done anything with it since the OP? I've been battling HA too and I'm finding it was caused by the Red Sea Coral Pro salt that I was using. I've found that turbo snails are awesome at battling it.

I would try putting an army of snails so they can start eating you algae, and just turn the tank light 4 hours at the most every day for at least a month, and do water changes every week.

I've been working on it. I replaced the light and added a UV filter. I also got a new chiller with new plumbing and cleaned the pumps. And LOTS of scraping! Next I'm going to take of the HOB fuge and go through it and clean the skimmer.

I'm going to start this process soon. At one time I had a blooming tank full of color. The past year or so most of my coral has died and I haven't dosed anything. Water changes are slim and my drive just isn't there.
I'm going to be transferring everything into another aquapod but this time I'm going to remove the false wall and run a sump/fuge with a skimmer. It's a shame my **** clown kills all my snails. Every time she kills them they create a big bloom of red slime. It's like a never ending cycle.
Anyways, keep us updated on the tank and let us know what steps you take

Amazing .... Is that how it looks now ? Let me know and I can probably give you some suggestions ... my book (see sig) is full of others ... but I can get you on the way to clean this up.

Oh I see you have done a lot of work in it already .. looks like you may have the problem under control ...
I feel for you. Something happened to mine, had to been the water because my freshwater and saltwater tanks started having major algae issues. And I think the fact I stopped using carbon didn't help. It's slow going getting things back the way they were but getting there. Don't give up because the really nice part is when you see the algae not coming back like it was, and the tank starting to look like it used to.

The few zoas I have in my tank haven't grown or multiplied in at least 2 years. Nothing. I wonder if it has to do with all the die off going on in the tank

I think mine got this way from laziness...or I'm too busy or whatever the excuse may be. I have an awesome filter from The Filter Guys and I do change the filters so I know it's not the water itself. I just changed salt from Oceanic to Instant Ocean. I've used Oceanic for YEARS. I don't know why I changed salt, I just did. Here are some pics of my fuge as it is now. This is my next project. Yuck!

My 75 gallon looks a lot worse than that. I'm battling with the idea of taking it down and putting my 34 back up. MY 12 gallon nano tank is just the oppistie - nothing out of place. Everything looks great. It's a never ending battle for the hobby we love. Don't give up - it looks like you're on the right track.
