Looking for more flow in my 24G nano

Been out of the loop for a long while, this looks promising....but is it standalone, or do I need to by a couple hundered dollar controller? I see no cords anywhere,does it draw power from the outside? or inside? Details and sugestions would be great.

I'm assuming the outside isnt submersible, so it would have to attatch on the side walls I would think. 24G JBJ nano cube.

This is just a drawing. The cord is attached to the propeller casing on the inside of the tank. It is held in place on the glass by the magnet on the outside. I have one of these and really like it.

i put one in my 8 gal cube and it was blowing crabs across the water! so now its twirling around in my 54 corner bow

What size did you use in your 8? This is going in a 24 cube. Most of the reports I've read is they are on the weak side....but those reports sound like they dont understand how the pump is designed to work, its supposed to be a gentle current intead of a massive blast.

Do you think the 1 is powerful enough or too much a 24G nanocube?

Does anyone know if the oustside magnet is safe to be in the water? I'd like to attach it to the back wall if possible, I know the side on the pump is "specially coated to resit corrosion, what about the other piece?

they are decent pumps matt, I would stick with the #1. unless you were trying to grow SPS. The magnet isnt intended to be in the water but it is sealed. I wouldnt want to say it is sealed enough. I believe there is one of these running at 5th day in the solona tank. go check it out and see if the flow is enough for you.

I checked one out at 5'th day and Donnie said he's used em submerged with no ill effects, I'll try it and if starts to corrode, take it out,clean it, and probably put some kind of felt padding over it and use it on the outside.

Check your PM's again, I may try to venture into a few of the hardier types of SPS, hope we can get together some point over the weekend, its been too long.

If there is anyway you could come up with the cash for a mp10 it would be worth it.

I've looked at those, definately a possible future upgrade. The hydor shold be enough for the time being.

If you are gonna be doing sps, 1 Koralia 1 will be on the weaker side. I would say either run 2 Koralia 1's or 1 Koralia 2. Really I think you should splurge and go with the Vortech.

Just for clarification the K1 is going to be used in conjunction with the standard powerhead that comes with the the JBJ nanocube wich puts out semi decent flow on its own, though just in one direction, the k1 will allow me to eliminate dead spots.

In my old BC14, I ran a Koralia 1 along with a mj 900 return and that was a good combo for that tank. You are will have almost twice as much space, so I think you will be much better off with more water movement. Best to buy once, IMO.

Matt I would go with one for now. unless you are going full SPS. You get to much flow and the LPS wont be happy. you can always add another. The vortechs are nice, I got two mp40ws running on my tank and it is pretty sweet. I think with a nano the koralia is your ticket

I Run a tunze nano in my frag tank and love it. It is a better pump IMO than the koralia but it is more expensive to. Just something you can ponder in your searching.

The K1 came today, I had eye surgery this morning so i'm gonna wait till tomorrow to mess with it, I doubt my heavily dialated eye would like a full on peek at my HQI.....

This sucker is huge!.....forget about attatching it to the false wall....the thing will shade my light, or corals....right now got in the upper corner right under my return, return shooting straight to the front wall, K1 shooting slightly upwards to the far side of the tank, not too much commotion but nice swirling current and what looks to be no dead spots, I'm sure I'll play with it some more...but dang....whish this thing was about half the size....
